The Macao tourism caravan promotion to Guangdong has been postponed until further notice, due to the province’s unstable Covid-19 pandemic situation.

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes announced the decision  on the sidelines of a Buddha’s Birthday event.

However, she said that her office plans to go to Wuhan in Hubei and Changsha in Hunan shortly to discuss the feasibility of hosting Macao Week events there.

Senna Fernandes added that she was happy about the 137,000 visitor arrivals to Macao over the May Day Golden Week, even though the Covid-19 pandemic and adverse weather had affected the numbers, saying they were “better than expected”.

She also said that Sunday night was the last drone show of the year, pointing out that residents and visitors have given MGTO positive feedback. She underlined that this year MGTO will collaborate with other entities to promote Macao and the idea of  Tourism+ to a wider audience, The Macau Post Daily reported.
