Approximately 25,000 guestrooms in 43 hotels are set to open in the next few years, the Lands, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT) has announced.
According to a DSSOPT statement on Friday, 18 hotels are already under construction while 25 hotel projects are still under assessment for official approval by the bureau.
While the 18 hotels under construction are set to provide about 9,800 guestrooms, the 25 hotel projects under assessment are planned to provide about 15,700 guestrooms.
About three quarters of the future five hotels under construction in Cotai will provide guestrooms.
At the end of March, the city’s 99 hotels and guesthouses provided 28,000 guestrooms, according to the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC).
The number of hotel guests in the first quarter fell 11.5 percent year-on-years to 2.35 million. (macaunews/macaupost)
