Macau, China, 24 Jun – Macau logged 11.06 million visitor arrivals in the first five months of this year, an increase of 7.2 percent on the same period of last year, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced on Thursday.

Visitors from Asia accounted for 97.4 percent of all arrivals between January and May, The Macau Post Daily pointed out.

Mainlanders and Hong Kong citizens made up 56.7 percent and 28 percent of all visitor arrivals, respectively.

Same-day visitors accounted for 54.7 percent of the total number of arrivals.

In May, the number of visitor arrivals rose 9.4 percent year-on-year to 2.29 billion, averaging 74,050 arrivals a day.

Month-to-month, the number of visitor arrivals was down 1.8 percent in May.

Last year, Macau recorded 24.9 million visitor arrivals.(MacauNews/Tourism)
