Tropical Cyclone Signal No 1 may be hoisted later today as Nalgae moves towards the southern coast of China, The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) has warned.

As of 9:20 am this morning, the tropical cyclone was 850 km from Macao and is predicted to enter within 800-km this afternoon.

However, its forecast track and intensity remains uncertain, according to the bureau. There will be showers in Macao and local winds will strengthen early to midweek next week, said SMG, who will closely monitor the tropical cyclone’s development.

Last night, mainland China issued a yellow alert – the third-highest alert – and ordered boats to return to harbours and personnel to shore reported CGTN. According to the report, the 22nd typhoon of 2022 is already affecting Fujian province with gales and rainstorms.
