Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited said today that the show The House of Dancing Water “will continue to be closed in the next few months”.

A statement from Melco also said that due to the “current environment, Franco Dragone, the legendary creative director of this water show, has not been able to visit Macao in person, so the show will continue to be closed.”

Melco said that “under this circumstance, the company announced that employees whose work visas expired during the break will leave.”

According to TDM, around 137 non-resident workers of The House of Dancing Water will not have their contracts renewed.

In June, Melco had closed the show, fired staff and announced that it would open again with a new look in January 2021.

Franco Dragone, creator and creative director of The House of Dancing Water, said, “We have been working on the reshaping of the show for some time. It is a pity that neither I nor any member of my team has been able to visit Macao in person. The current environment affects us.  It is very difficult to say, and it makes me sad to let these talents leave.”

Melco’s Macau Resorts COO David Sisk said that it is “with a very heavy heart” he sees “amazing talent leave” while expressing gratitude to the “continued efforts and for having been willing to stay with the show during these difficult times”.

The House of Dancing Water has successfully attracted more than 6 million viewers since its performance in 2010.
