The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) has signed an agreement with the Swiss Education Group (SEG) for a dual recognition programme.

IFTM – as well as SEG’s two top 10 QS World University Ranking institutions, Swiss Hotel Management University and the César Ritz Colleges Switzerland  – will promote a “mutual recognition programme” that features a “3+1” learning model, which will entail a study programme designed for IFTM’s Hotel Management or Tourism Event Management majors.

Participating students can receive a bachelor’s degree from IFTM and a bachelor’s degree from a Swiss university, with students who have completed three years of study at IFTM and one year of study at an SEG designated institution simultaneously awarded two bachelor’s degrees.

IFTM pointed out that students can also choose to participate in a mutually recognised programme that does not require going to Switzerland and obtaining a Swiss diploma from the SEG designated institution.

The institute said that SEG will provide an “annual quality review and accreditation” for IFTM’s bachelor’s degree programmes in Hotel Management and Tourism Event Management to ensure that they meet the former’s standards of excellence.

Both also plan to “explore options” such as the joint development of a Master’s Programme in Culinary Arts in the future.
