The Judiciary Police (PJ) are investigating after a man found his father had hanged himself with a rope on the balcony of their home near Red Market.

On Monday at 7:25 pm the Fire Services Bureau received a report that a man was believed to have committed suicide at his home on Travessa do Bem-Estar, the PJ said. The deceased was a 72-year-old local surnamed Lam.

According to the PJ, when Lam’s son got home from work at 6:45 pm on Monday, he found that his father had hanged himself with a rope on the balcony. He then called the emergency services. Lam was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

PJ officers saw marks on Lam’s neck, and confirmed that the marks matched the rope that he had used to hang himself. No suicide note was found at the scene.

A post-mortem examination will be performed, The Macau Post Daily reported.
