Twenty-two projects have been granted the Natural Science Award, Technological Invention Award and Science and Technological Progress Award under the Macao Science and Technology Awards 2022, and 30 doctoral students have received the Scientific and Technological R&D Award for Postgraduates.

An award presentation ceremony was held yesterday at the Macao Cultural Centre in NAPE, the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) said.

The FDCT noted that the Macao Science and Technology Awards aim to reward those who have made contributions to science and technology activities in Macao.

Secretary for Economy and Finance Lei Wai Nong commented that the government has made great efforts in recent years to improve Macao’s system of scientific and technological innovation, cultivate technological talent, promote a development model led by tertiary education institutions and enterprises and, guided by the market for industry-academia collaboration, to promote the commercialisation of scientific and technological achievements.

Lei also said he hoped that science and technology practitioners in Macao would seize the opportunities brought about by the development of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as an international centre for technological innovation to jointly promote the development of technological innovation in Macao and contribute to the appropriate economic diversification of the city, The Macau Post Daily reported.
