Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng will head a delegation to Shanghai from today until Sunday for the first Shanghai-Macao Cooperation Conference which aims to find new ways of boosting bilateral ties.

Ho will attend the opening of “Macau Week in Shanghai” this evening and will also visit a number of industrial projects to gain a better understanding of the financial hub’s latest developments.

Ho’s delegation includes Secretary for Economy and Finance Lei Wai Nong, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Elsie Ao Ieong U, Government Information Bureau Director Inês Chan Lou and Macao Government Tourism Office Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes.

During Ho’s absence, Secretary for Administration and Justice André Cheong Weng Chon will be acting chief executive.

Macao and Shanghai established a cooperation conference mechanism covering financial services, the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibition (MICE) industry, and education and youth affairs in November 2019. The aim is to take practical cooperation between Shanghai and Macao to a new level, while benefiting the two cities’ economic and social development.
