Chinese President Xi Jinping met Friday with Chui Sai On, chief executive of Macau that is in Beijing to report on his work to the central government.

Xi said that Chui Sai On has led the government of the Macau Special Administrative Region in accordance with the law, and vigorously promoted the stability of the economy, improving people’s livelihood in the last year.

Xi appreciated Macau’s success of the sixth Legislative Council elections, and well dealing with emergencies and challenges, promoting new progress in the construction.

“The central government fully recognizes these efforts,” Xi told Chui.

Xi pointed out that the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) fully deployed the work of the Party and the state in all aspects.

He praised Chui’s work leading Macau management team to learn and implement the spirit of the 19th Party Congress.

The adherence to the “one country, two systems” policy and “promote the reunification of the motherland” as reported in the 19th National Congress reflected the fact that the central government attaches great importance to the work of Hong Kong and Macau, Xi said.

Xi also said that the central government will continue to adhere to the “one country, two systems” policy, handling things in strict conformity with the basic law of Macau.

Macau should continue to promote the same policy in order to contribute to the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
