The Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement on Monday there were 116 violations by rogue taxi drivers between last Tuesday and Sunday.
The statement said the incidents included 69 cases of overcharging and 25 cases of refusing to pick up passengers. However, it did not reveal what the remaining 22 cases were, nor did it disclose where the offences were perpetrated.
Misconduct by an apparently rising number of taxi drivers has become a hot-button issue, and residents, commentators and community leaders have been urging the government to step up the fight against rogue cabbies and to strengthen the taxi sector’s oversight. (macaunews/macaupost)
