Angolan President João Lourenço has vowed to strengthen cooperation with China, while the Chinese Ambassador to Angola, Gong Tao, has pointed to new investments and joint projects in the production sector.

In a message to Chinese President Xi Jinping offering congratulations on the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), Lourenço said that China is “a global reference for stability, progress and development, but also another pillar on which the construction of peace and world security is fortified”.

“I would like to share with you this moment of celebration, to praise the uninterrupted progress made by the PRC since the second half of the 20th century,” wrote Lourenço.

Lourenço expressed the desire to maintain the spirit of cooperation between Luanda and Beijing, “strengthening the traditional ties of friendship, based on international solidarity”, to “inspire a new dynamic of cooperation”.

Speaking to Angolan National Radio, Ambassador Gong Tao said that his country remains interested in consolidating strategic cooperation with Angola in the production sector and in carrying out investments.

The granting of scholarships and other professional training is another point that will continue to mark Angola-China cooperation, the diplomat added.
