Tickets for the newly inaugurated Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) tour, which began trial operation last Friday, have sold out and will not be available until early next year, according to the tour’s official WeChat ticketing page.

The 140-minute tour is the first of its kind to allow visitors to view the scenery from the bridge and its main features.

Buses for the tour depart from Zhuhai Port and make stops at six sightseeing spots, including the three main bridges – the Jiuzhou Channel Bridge, Jianghai Channel Bridge and Qingzhou Channel Bridge – in addition to the undersea tunnel and the artificial Blue Dolphin Island.

Mainland Chinese ID card holders, as well as Hong Kong and Macao holders of Home Return Permits, are eligible to take part in the tour during its trial period from 15 December 2023 to 15 June 2024.

Tickets normally cost 188 yuan per person, although discounts are being offered during the duration of the trial. Currently, there are 12 daily tours between 9:00 am to 4:20 pm, with a quota of 1,200 visitors per day.

The 55-kilometre bridge marked its fifth anniversary in October. Since its opening, some 36 million people and 7.5 million vehicles have used the bridge.
