Winds are expected to strengthen today, as Typhoon Nalgae edges closer to Macao. It is currently 470 kilometres southeast of the city, and Signal No 3 remains in effect.

Forecasters predict Signal No 8 might be issued tomorrow evening.

The typhoon is moving north-northwestward to the coastal area of Guangdong. Under the joint influence of Nalgae and the northeast monsoon, local winds will intensify gradually.

It will be more cloudy with occasional showers and cooler in the next couple of days. In addition, due to the astronomical high tide in the next few days and the approach of Nalgae, flooding is possible in the inner harbour area between midnight to early morning on 2 to 3 November.

The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau advised the public to pay attention to the latest weather news.
