Three kinds of show flats at government housing projects have been thrown open for inspection by the public.
They include subsidised home-ownership scheme (HOS) flats to be built in the Zone A land reclamation area, temporary housing towers on Plot P in Areia Preta district, and a rental housing project for senior citizens, also on Plot P.
The show flats have been set up on the third floor of the newly-completed second phase of the Mong Ha social housing estate – officially named Mong Tak Building – at the corner of Rua de Francisco Xavier Pereira and Avenida de Venceslau de Morais.
Residents have to book their visit to the show flats for the Zone A HOS housing and for the temporary housing, however no appointment is needed for the rental housing for senior citizens.
The government launched a new round of applications last Wednesday for 5,254 HOS flats in Zone A, which will be built on five plots, comprising 242 one-bedroom units, 4,478 two-bedroom units and 534 three-bedroom units. The four-month application period will end on 12 November.
Only permanent residents can apply to buy an HOS flat. An individual applicant must be aged at least 23, while the representative of a household must be at least 18 years old.
In Mong Tak Building, the Housing Bureau (IH) has set up show flats as examples of the one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom HOS units to be built in Zone A. The bureau has placed furniture and household appliances in the three-bedroom show flat, but not in the one-bedroom and two-bedroom show flats.
Construction has already started at Plot P, which will contain three temporary housing estates comprising eight towers. The flats, which are developed by Macau Urban Renewal Limited (MUR), a fully government-owned company tasked with the city’s regeneration, will be earmarked for property owners affected by urban renewal projects to occupy temporarily during the redevelopment of their old homes.
The eight temporary housing towers on Plot P, which will have between 37 and 50 storeys, will provide 2,803 units. The project will provide about 1,100 parking spaces for cars and some 590 parking spaces for motorcycles.
“The project will feature a diverse range of recreational and leisure facilities, including sports zones in both outdoor and covered areas, children’s playgrounds, and promenades, in addition to lawns and plants with a greenery coverage of over 50 per cent,” a MUR spokesman said.
The spokesman added that the temporary housing project will also feature commercial areas, a public transport interchange, two public roads, a pedestrian precinct, and a footbridge connected to nearby communities. The pedestrian precinct will also function as a “ventilation corridor” and an emergency passageway for fire engines, the spokesman said.
In Mong Tak Building, the urban renewal company has set up show flats for the one-bedroom and two-bedroom temporary housing units on Plot P. The flats will be equipped with home appliances such as a kitchen stove, a kitchen hood, a washing machine, a water heater and a refrigerator.
The rental housing project for senior citizens, which will be located next to the temporary housing project on Plot P, will be earmarked for elderly residents living in low-rise walk-ups so that their quality of life can be improved, the government has said.
Priority will be given to those with reduced mobility in the future application process for the total of 1,815 studio flats on Plot P. The project, comprising two hotel-style apartment towers, got off the ground late last year.
Various facilities will be set up on the podium levels of the rental housing towers for senior citizens, such as restaurants, clinics and dialysis machines.
In Mong Tak Building, the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS), which will oversee the future operation of the rental housing estate for seniors on Plot P, has set up a show flats for single-person flats and two-people flats. In addition to electric appliances and furniture, the flats will have various barrier-free facilities and devices for keeping seniors safe.
The show flats in Mong Tak Building for the three kinds of housing are open from 11 am to 8 pm. from Tuesday to Sunday and closed on Mondays and public holidays, The Macau Post Daily reported.
