The police said in separate messages over the weekend that they are investigating two deaths.
The Judiciary Police (PJ) received a report from the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 9:40 p.m. on Friday that the body of a man was found in a flat of a residential housing estate in Travessa da Penha, according to a message by Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Lai Man Vai on Saturday.
The deceased is a 59-years-old local man surnamed Lam.
According to the police, Lam lived alone in the flat. His family had not been able to contact him recently so on Friday went to his flat, but no one opened the door, which was locked from the inside. Lam’s family immediately called the police for help. Firefighters forced the door open and found Lam lying on the floor, according to Lai’s message.
According to a preliminary examination of the body, there were no injuries. A forensic examination will be carried out and the case has been referred to the PJ investigation section for follow-up, according to Lai’s message,
Meanwhile, the Judiciary Police (PJ) received a report from the Public Security Police (PSP) on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. that a woman was believed to have committed suicide by hanging herself from a window grille in her flat of a residential building in Rua da Prata, according to a message from PJ spokesman Lai Man Vai yesterday.
The deceased is a 61-year-old local woman surnamed Wong.
According to Lai’s message, Wong lived with her family in the same flat. She did not show any indication that she planned to commit suicide when her family members went out yesterday afternoon. Later, her family received a call from relatives that they could not contact Wong. Her family rushed home and found Wong had hung herself and called the police for help. Firefighters confirmed that Wong had died.
According to a preliminary examination, Wong had injuries on her neck, which was consistent with the cause of death. She hung herself from the window grille with a belt.
A forensic examination will be carried out and the case has been referred to the PJ Investigation section for follow-up, according to Lai’s message.
