As of 4 pm Friday, 102,047 people had been vaccinated against Covid-19 in Macao, the Government Information Bureau (GCS) said in an update that cited data from the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre.
Of the vaccinees, 40,819 had received their first jab while 61,228 had been fully vaccinated (after their second jab) against the novel coronavirus.
Vaccinations in Macao are free of charge for residents, non-resident workers and non-local students. The vaccination drive started on February 9.
According to the statement, 163,275 COVID-19 vaccine jabs had been administered until 4 pm Friday.
People in Macao can choose between China’s Sinopharm and Germany’s BioNTech.
So far, the Health Bureau (SSM) has been notified about 718 adverse events or 0.439 per cent of the total number of vaccinations. Three of the adverse events have been classified by the bureau as “serious”, according to the statement.
The Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre once again urged people in Macao to book their vaccination.
“Vaccination against COVID-19 helps protect oneself and one’s family,” the conducive to achieving herd immunity in the population.
At the end of March, Macao’s population stood at 682,500, according to official statistics.
So far just 14.9 per cent of the population has been inoculated one or twice against Covid-19 – and only 8.9 per cent has been fully vaccinated (after two doses).
