The number of new motor vehicle registrations dropped by 31.6 per cent year-on-year to 6,869 in the first half of the year, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced on Tuesday.
The number of new motorcycle registrations declined by 25.9 per cent to 3,809. The number of new light private car registrations fell by 48.4 per cent to 2,186 in the first six months of the year.
In June, the number of new motor vehicle registrations dropped by 29.8 per cent to 939.
The total number of licensed motor vehicles rose by 1.9 per cent to 248,680 at the end of June. Motorcycles and light private cars accounted for 52.1 per cent and 41.0 per cent respectively of the total.
