Macau’s population at the end of September stood at 647,700, a drop of 4,800 quarter-to-quarter, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced on Thursday.

Females accounted for 51.4 per cent of the total.

A total of 1,885 live births were delivered in the third quarter, an increase of 246, or 15 per cent, from the previous quarter. The sex ratio at birth stood at 113.7, corresponding to 113.7 male babies per 100 female babies.

A total of 480 deaths were recorded in the third quarter, a decrease of 85 quarter-to-quarter.

In the third quarter, 1,537 mainlanders were authorised to settle in Macau, up by 302 quarter-to-quarter.

The number of imported workers stood at 180,277 at the end of September, a drop of 2,182 year-on-year.
