Starting today, passengers can ride the LRT by directly swiping their Macau Pass cards at ticket gates.

The LRT currently only operates on the 9.3-kilometre-long Taipa section which includes Cotai. The Taipa-Cotai section, which started operating on 10 December 2019, has 11 stations.

Under the current discount fare scheme, which runs until the end of the year, LRT card and Macau Pass holders will pay between MOP 1.5 and 2.5 per trip, depending on the length of travel. Single-trip tickets are slightly more expensive.

Children below one metre in height, local residents who are over 65, students and disabled passengers holding the appropriate version of the LRT card or Macau Pass travel free until 31 December, The Macau Post Daily reported.
