A Hong Kong woman has been confirmed dead after “falling” from a building on Rua Central da Areia Preta yesterday morning.

Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam said that the woman, surnamed Lau, was 46 years old.

The PJ were notified by the Public Security Police at 5:34 am yesterday that a woman was lying on the building’s second-floor podium.

Ho said that at 3 am the victim had told her husband that she was going to the toilet. He only realised the tragedy after the police arrived and informed him. The toilet door was locked and the window was open.

The victim was suffering from an unspecified illness and a suicide note was found in the flat.

According to a preliminary examination of the body, the deceased sustained injuries caused by “falling from a height”, but the exact cause of death could only be confirmed by a forensic examination, The Macau Post Daily reported.
