Five of Macao’s restaurants have been recognised with prestigious awards by the internationally renowned magazine Wine Spectator.

Robuchon au Dôme, Casa Don Alfonso and The Kitchen restaurants at the Grand Lisboa Hotel on the peninsula and the Palace Garden and Mesa restaurants at the Grand Lisboa Palace in Cotai, which are all run by SJM Resorts, were all given awards.

The Grand Lisboa Hotel was the first hotel in China to receive an award from Wine Spectator, SJM said, adding that its two restaurants – Robuchon au Dôme and Casa Don Alfonso – have received the Grand Award for 18 and 13 consecutive years respectively, while The Kitchen has been given the Best Award for Excellence for 14 years.

SJM said that Palace Garden and Mesa were awarded the Best Award of Excellence in their opening year, thanks to their impressive wine lists and menus.

SJM Chairman Daisy Ho Chiu Fung commented her company’s properties offer the largest selection of wines in Asia, including nearly 17,900 labels and more than 500,000 bottles of vintage wine sourced worldwide, bearing testament to Macao’s position as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

The Wine Spectator Grand Award is the highest honour for destinations that exhibit uncompromising devotion to the quality of their wine programmes, which feature 1,000 or more selections, excellent harmony with the menu and superior service, while The Best of Award of Excellence is presented to restaurants which offer an expansive wine list with no fewer than 350 selections.
