The body of a 79-year-old male surnamed Leong was found in a flat on Rua do General Ivens Ferraz yesterday.
Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chong Kam Lon said that Leong was a Macao resident who lived alone.
His ex-wife called the police after she went to his home to visit him yesterday, but no one answered the door and a foul smell was emanating from the flat.
After firefighters broke open the locked gate of the flat, they found Leong, who was dead.
According to a preliminary examination of the body, no suspicious or criminal injuries were found on the deceased.
The case was listed as “dead body found”. The cause of death still needs to be confirmed by forensic examination. The case has been transferred to the PJ Investigation Section for follow-up, The Macau Post Daily reported.
