Two new public car parks will come into service in the city in the near future, with a total of 700 spaces.

The car parks are at the Mong Ha Sports Centre, a redeveloped high-rise sports complex which opened late last year, and Toi Fai Building, a newly-completed social housing project in Toi San district.

No date has been announced for when the two car parks will come into use.

The Mong Ha Sports Centre Car Park has three underground levels, providing a total of 476 public parking spaces – 264 for cars and 212 for motorcycles.

The Toi Fai Building Car Park occupies the first and second floors of the building. It has 224 parking spaces, comprising 105 for cars and 119 for motorcycles.

Both car parks will employ the same charging scheme. Cars will be charged MOP 6 per hour during the day (from 8 am to 8 pm) and MOP 3 per hour during the night (from 8 pm to 8 am the next day), while motorcycles will be charged MOP 2 per hour during the day and MOP 1 per hour during the night, The Macau Post Daily reported.
