A total of 199,622 individuals from Key Areas and Key Groups, including those leaving home for work, were sampled yesterday and all the nucleic acid test (NAT) results have returned negative, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced.
Among those who got tested yesterday were people living or working in a large area surrounding the Grand Mart supermarket in Taipa, which was designated a key area by local authorities after a person who works at the supermarket was found positive for Covid-19 in Zhuhai.
People from the Taipa’s key area had to complete their NATs by midnight yesterday.
In related news, a new key area near the Gongbei Barrier Gate checkpoint has been announced by the authorities meaning everyone who lives or works in this area – and anyone who has spent more than 30 minutes there – is now subject to a mandatory NAT today.
Meanwhile, all people in Macao must take a rapid antigen test (RAT) today and upload it onto the Macao Health Code. Only those with negative RAT results are allowed to enter the NAT Centres. People with positive RAT results must contact 119, 120 or 2857 2222 immediately.
