A 37-year-old mainland Chinese woman was murdered, dismembered and dumped at Taipa Grande Hill, the Judiciary Police (PJ) of Macao announced today.
The victim was robbed and killed in a Ritz Carlton, Macau hotel room by a Zhongshan resident who was arrested today by police authorities in Guangdong Province. He has since confessed to his crime.
According to the PJ, the 28-year-old murderer entered the hotel room with the victim on 11 June. Information from police authorities indicate that the murderer then left the room to buy a suitcase, knives and scissors in Taipa. He then returned to the room to dismember the body into 10 parts, including the head, torso, feet and hands, which he later placed in plastic bags. He then placed the bags into the suitcase and then dumped them at the Taipa Grande Hill.
The victim’s identification documents and bloody clothes have also been found with the body. The PJ reported having images of the murderer dragging a heavy suitcase into a taxi and later returning to the hotel with a lighter suitcase.
According to the police, the murderer left the hotel for the border gate at around 4 pm on Saturday, leaving the suitcase at a garbage station in Taipa.
Law enforcement authorities are investigating to determine whether the killer and victim knew each other and whether they were involved in casino crimes or prostitution.
A PJ spokesperson said that the suspect would go on trial in the mainland, considering that he’s a mainland resident and the victim was also from the mainland. While the suspect faces capital punishment in the mainland, in Macao the maximum punishment would be a prison term of 30 years.
This is the second murder of the year, with the last victim being a 50-year-old mainland woman who was killed in a hotel room at The Venetian Macau.
