Taiwan will restart online individual applications for temporary stay permits from Macao and Hong Kong resident ID card holders from 9 am next Monday, the island’s Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) has announced.
In addition, all pandemic-related entry control measures for Macao and Hong Kong visitors will be cancelled on the same day, three years after they were imposed on 6 February 2020.
Macao and Hong Kong passport holders can apply for travel to Taiwan via the island’s immigration website, while foreign passport holders can apply for entry permits via Taiwan’s eVisa platform.

The changes were made following the easing of the pandemic in Taiwan, MAC Vice-Chairman Liang Wen-chieh announced today.
In November 2022, Taiwan relaxed its entry restrictions on mainland Chinese students and began to allow entry for Macao and Hong Kong people for the purposes of working in office-based positions or participating in religious activities.
