According to an announcement by the Transport Bureau and Public Works Bureau, expansion joint replacement work will be carried out on the Sai Van Bridge on five consecutive weekends between 13 October to 13 November.

In order to minimise disruptions, the two departments will perform the maintenance starting at 9:30 pm on Fridays and work through to 7:00 am on the following Mondays.

During those times, there will only be single-lane traffic at the approach viaduct on the Macao Peninsula side of the bridge. Traffic police will be on-site to direct vehicles.

A number of expansion joint replacement projects have been conducted on the Sai Van Bridge so far this year, including one which led to the closure of the motorcycle lane for seven days in August.

Opened in January 2005, Sai Van Bridge is one of the three bridges that connects the Macau Peninsula with Taipa.

An as-yet-unnamed fourth Macau-Taipa bridge, approximately 3 kilometres in length, is expected to be completed by 2024.
