VIP baccarat remained the main source of gross revenue from Macau casinos in the first half of 2016, according to data released Monday by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.
Gross revenue from Macau casinos amounted to MOP 107.787 billion (US$13.473 billion), and revenues from VIP baccarat totalled MOP 56.980 billion (US$7.1225 billion), accounting for 52.8 per cent of the total.
So-called mass market baccarat, which along with VIP accounted for 87.8 per cent of total gross revenues, provided revenues in the first half of the year of MOP 37.657 billion (US$4.707 billion) or 34.9 per cent of the total.
The gaming sector in Macau, which in addition to casinos includes greyhound and horse racing, Chinese and instant lotteries and sports betting, provided a gross revenue in the first six months of 2016, of MOP 108.253 billion (US$13.531 billion).
