Three major trade fairs are set to be held next week, namely the 28th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF), Macao Franchise Expo (MFE), and the inaugural China-Portuguese-Speaking Countries Economic Expo (C-PLPEX).

They will all be held concurrently – from 19 to 22 October – at the Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo.

This will be C-PLPEX’s first year running. The conference is designed to improve exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and is part of multilateral Forum Macao’s 20th anniversary celebrations.

This year’s MIF will be longer than previous iterations – four days instead of the usual three. Considered one of the SAR’s most important expos, MIF promotes cross-border business opportunities through a series of exhibitions, forums and themed discussions.

MIF will focus on the city’s emerging sectors: modern finance, hi-tech, MICE, and healthcare. The event’s organiser, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) has announced that 2023’s MIF partner province will be Shandong, on the Yellow Sea.

A ‘Macao Local Enterprises Exhibition and Sales Area’ will promote local business, according to a statement from the IPIM. It’s where expo-goers have the chance to buy souvenirs and other Macao-origin items.

The three expos are among 40 MICE events that have been or will be staged in Macao between September and December. The IPIM has estimated that these events will draw in a collective 400,000 people.
