Analysts from JP Morgan predict that Macao’s gaming operators could generate billions of patacas in revenue during the holidays that follow the National Day celebrations on 1 October. According to a report by TDM, the analysts said that casinos could take in up to 850 million patacas per day during the so-called “Golden Week” that runs until 6 October, then as much as 450 million per day on the weekend of 7 and 8 October.

The figures are inching back up to pre-pandemic levels of 2019, when revenues of more than a billion patacas per day were generated during Golden Week.

That year, visitors to Macao averaged 141,000 per day. This year, tourism officials are anticipating more than 100,000 per day.

Meanwhile, according to Citigroup analysts cited in local media, average wagers are up 58 percent from 2019 – in spite of stiff economic headwinds.

The average wager has reached HK$20,314, fuelled by a relatively small number of high rollers who wager up to HK$500,000 per hand.
