Macao has been hailed as the “Best Convention City (Asia) 2023” by the readers of MICE industry magazine M&C Asia.

The magazine’s Stella Awards see a total of 29 accolades given out across six categories and according to the publication aim to “foster growth, innovation and best practices that will contribute to the development and progress of the organisations operating in the MICE industry across Asia.”

Macao was presented with the same honour during the debut edition of the Stella Awards in 2019.

According to the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), the city’s “concerted efforts to provide excellent conference experiences for event participants with outstanding environmental equipment and services” made it stand out from the pack this year.

“With complete catering, accommodation and the relevant supporting facilities, superior business environment, as well as trade resources derived from its role as a commercial and trade service platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, Macao is capable of providing participants with unique MICE experience,” the agency said.

Official figures show that Macao hosted 208 MICE events in the first quarter of 2023, attracting nearly 200,000 participants.
