Gaming & betting revenue drops 3.5 pct in 2Q

Macau’s gross gaming and betting revenue for the second quarter fell 3.5 percent from the previous quarter to 74.04 billion patacas, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) announced Monday.

Macau’s gross gaming and betting revenue for the second quarter fell 3.5 percent from the previous quarter to 74.04 billion patacas, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) announced Monday.

Gross revenue generated by casinos’ games of chance dropped 3.66 percent to 73.7 billion patacas quarter on quarter (QOQ).

Casinos’ gross revenue accounted for 99.6 percent of the total revenue generated by the gaming and betting industry in the second quarter. VIP baccarat accounted for 55.4 percent of the total gross revenue generated by casinos’ games of chance. VIP baccarat gross revenue fell 4.4 percent QOQ to 42.95 billion patacas.

Football betting recorded gross takings of 244 million patacas in the second quarter, a QOQ surge of 93.6 percent. Greyhound races produced gross receipts of 12 million patacas in the second quarter, up 9.1 percent from the previous quarter. Horse racing recorded gross receipts of 26 million patacas, down 13.3 percent from the first quarter.

Basketball betting gross revenue dropped 36.2 percent QOQ to 44 million patacas in the second quarter.
