Macao’s top telecom operator CTM reported a net profit of MOP 1.01 billion (US$126.7 million) last year, a 7 per cent year-on-year increase, according to a notice published in the Official Gazette (BO) on Wednesday.
Howevery CTM’s receipts fell 13 per cent to MOP 4.24 billion last year. The company attributed the decline to fewer mobile phone and other equipment sales. However, receipts from services rose 5 per cent year-on-year. CTM last year reduced its investments, according to the notice.
At the end of last year, CTM had 125,102 fixed-line customers, down by 7,929 from 2018. The mobile phone penetration rate reached 411 per cent last year. In 2018, it stood at 336 per cent. At the end of last year, CTM’s number of mobile phone clients rose 20 per cent year-on-year to 1.14 million. The number of mobile phone broadband subscribers rose 7 per cent to 312,876.
At the end of last year, CTM had 193,030 internet clients, 147,390 of whom had access to fibre optic broadband at home.
