Those born between the late-1990s and early 2010s love travel, but they’re not seeking balmy weather or pulsating nightlife, according to Business Insider. Its report cites data from travel company Booking Holdings, the operator of the hugely popular booking.com website.

Rather, members of Gen Z rate delicious local cuisine, value for money, and spectacular natural scenery above all else when picking their next travel destination.

Good shopping opportunities and safety were the factors that followed. Nightlife and warm weather did not even make the top ten, the survey noted.

As for how they found their travel inspiration, almost two-thirds of the 32,300 people surveyed who are in Gen Z said it was via social media – more than any other age group polled.

Booking Holdings’ survey featured people from 32 countries and was conducted between January and February 2024.

A 2023 Business Insider survey found that 43 percent of this generation considered travel to be a more important goal than furthering their education, creative fulfilment and becoming debt-free.
