Universal Studios Singapore (USS) has confirmed it will open its highly anticipated Minion Land in 2025, as part of its Sentosa Island theme park. While an official launch date has not been announced, the opening will mark the Despicable Me-themed attraction’s Southeast Asian debut.

Located within Resorts World Sentosa, an integrated resort that’s also home to one of Singapore’s two casinos, this iteration of Minion Land will feature rides and shops across three areas: Gru’s Neighbourhood, Super Silly Fun Land and Minion Marketplace.

Resorts World Sentosa’s president, Lee Shi Ruh, said she was “thrilled” to be welcoming the park’s new addition to the city-state. “With its exciting lineup of attractions, retail, and dining – some of which are exclusive to Universal Studios Singapore – Minion Land is poised to be a popular draw for both local and overseas visitors alike,” she noted. An official opening date has yet to be announced.

Fans of the Despicable Me film franchise will recognise Gru’s Neighbourhood, a gothic take on cookie-cutter suburbia that contains the home of Despicable Me protagonist Felonius Gru and the minions, his tiny yellow henchmen. When open, this area will boast the simulator ride ‘Minion Mayhem’, taking visitors on a journey through Gru’s secret laboratory.

Super Silly Fun Land, meanwhile, will feature an exclusive-to-USS ride dubbed the ‘Buggie Boogie’, an aerial carousel of colourful buggies. A number of food stands designed to be recognisable from the films will also be on offer. As its name implies, Minion Marketplace will be the go-to destination for Despicable Me merchandise.

The first Despicable Me film was released in 2010 and has been followed by four sequels, plus a number of other spinoffs. The first Minion Mayhem ride opened at Universal Studios Florida, in the US, in 2012. It’s now also found in Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Studios Japan and Universal Studios Beijing.
