Ho Chi Ming , Vietnam, 30 Jun – A first-half hat trick by international striker Cong Vinh Le helped Vietnam to a 6-0 thrashing of Macau in Wednesday’s first leg of their 2014 World Cup qualifier.
Vietnam delivered on its strong favoritism for the Asian qualifying first-round match, with Le scoring in the 19th and 36th minutes before rounding off his hat trick from the penalty spot in the 39th.
Further goals from Thanh Luong Pham in the 62nd and substitute Nguyen Ngoc Thanh in the 67th put the host in a powerful position and Nguyen Van Quyet completed the scoring in the 87th.
Barring a remarkable comeback from Macau in Sunday’s second leg, Vietnam will play Qatar in the second round.(MacauNews/Sports)
