Macao’s Ma Cheok Mei won the 35-39 age group 200m individual medley event at the World Aquatics Masters Championships in Singapore yesterday. Finishing with a time of 2:38.38, she held a lead of more than one second over runner-up Saskia Kutz of Switzerland.
Masters is a special class for veterans of the sport. With her winning performance at this year’s Championships, Ma is now the Macao record holder in 200m individual medley masters swimming, having broken the previous time by almost ten seconds.
Apart from the 200m individual medley, Ma also competed in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly, in all of which she placed in the top ten.
