The Sands China Macao International 10K race is scheduled to take place this Sunday. The event will consist of a 5-kilometre fun run and the main 10-kilometre race, which start at 7 am and 7:30 am respectively from Sai Van Lake Square and end inside the Olympics Sports Centre in Taipa.

Runners who are ranked in the top 10 in the main race will be eligible for a monetary prize, with the highest being US$10,000.

Last year’s competition drew roughly 10,000 participants. Edwin Soi set a new record of 29:16 and won the top prize in the men’s division, while Winrose Chepkoirr placed first among the women, also breaking the female course record, with a time of 34:22. Both runners are from Kenya.

In addition to the races, a host of other activities will be organised this year, including a costume competition and an interactive zone for kids at The Venetian, with workshops and prizes.

Anyone who has registered for the races is being asked to collect their bibs, timing chips and race information from the Olympic Sports Centre Indoor Pavilion from 12 noon to 9 pm daily. The last collection date will be on 16 March, with the hours extended until 10 pm that night.

To make it easier for participants to access information about the event, the organisers have developed an app that can be downloaded for Apple and Android devices.
