Macau will host table tennis, women’s volleyball, 3×3 basketball, and men’s under-18 basketball competitions as part of the 2025 National Games, the Government Information Bureau has announced.

The details were announced yesterday at the inaugural meeting of the organising committee in Guangzhou.

The 15th National Games will be held from 9 to 21 November 2025 and are being jointly hosted by Guangdong province, Macao and Hong Kong. The opening ceremony will be held in Guangzhou and the closing ceremony in Shenzhen, according to sports officials.

The competition program will include 34 main sports and 401 secondary sports, organisers said. Hong Kong will host eight sports.

Last year, Macao authorities put out a call for 10,000 volunteers to help run the National Games events being hosted in the territory.

Volunteers need to have been born in 2007 or earlier and can include mainland Chinese and overseas students studying in Macao.
