The return of Formula 3 racing to Macao is a “relatively concrete situation”, according to Pun Weng Kun, the director of the Sports Bureau.
“We are all very optimistic,” he told public broadcaster TDM on Sunday.
The Macau Grand Prix was a Formula 3 race for 36 years until 2020, when Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, which prevented foreign racers from competing, saw it become a Formula 4 event.

Pun added that officials were also discussing the return of the FIA GT World Cup to the territory as well.
“As for many other world touring car races, they are all keen to come to Macao” he told TDM. “We are discussing and we all see it positively”.
This year’s Grand Prix will be the event’s 70th edition and is set to run over two weekends in November this year, reprising the format of the 60th anniversary Grand Prix in 2013.
