The Cultural Affairs Bureau has issued an open call to artists, producers, curators, and non-profit cultural associations to submit proposals for the 22nd Macao City Fringe Festival.

The festival will be held next January, and organisers say they want to foster “an innovative spirit and risk-taking attitude” with works that “break the barriers of traditional venues” and “highlight the characteristics and the cultural connotations of the city”.

Proposals for all genres of performances, exhibitions and other artistic activities will be considered. A special “New Spark Programme Showcase” makes technical advice and equipment available to students who want to put on a show, in the hope that the local art community will discover new talent.

Organisers are also inviting venue operators to get in touch if they are interested in having a performance on site, particularly if the space is “unconventional” such as “a school, a coffee shop, a bar, an empty space or an open area”

The deadline for submissions is 23 June 2023 and forms can be downloaded online before being submitted by email, post, or in person at the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building located at Tap Seac Square.

Telephone enquiries for the 22nd Macao City Fringe Festival can be made to 8399 6877 or  8399 6660.
