The Cultural Affairs Bureau (known by its Portuguese abbreviation IC) is inviting local performing arts groups to submit funding proposals for original productions involving collaborations with foreign artists.
According to the bureau, the productions must “incorporate a creative collaboration with a non-local artist from a different discipline to explore new ideas, novel artistic discourses and approaches.”
Productions must be ready to premiere in the next two years and can include “brand new productions, adaptation of existing works and revivals of previously staged productions, including musical, drama, dance and children’s programmes.”

Officials say the production costs of the chosen works will be covered and assistance will be given in “the subsequent development of the programmes after their premiere,” with their possible restaging overseas.
A maximum of six works will be commissioned through this project, with a grant of production costs of up to 900,000.00 patacas for musicals and 650,000 patacas for drama, dance and children’s programmes.
An information session will be held on 9 July at the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building, and submission of proposals is open from 27 June until 8 September. Shortlisted candidates, who must be holders of a valid Macao SAR Resident Identity Card, will have an interview with a jury in October. Regulations and application forms are available for download from the IC’s website.
