The 2023 MGM Macao International Regatta will be held from today through Sunday, with 35 teams set to compete for championships.
The three competitions will be the Macao Cup International Regatta (Beneteau First 40.7 unified design group), the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cup Regatta (IRC group), and the International Catamaran Invitational (Hobie 16 unified design group).
There are 11 teams in the Macao Cup International Regatta and nine in the GBA Regatta, all of which will compete in the waters south of Coloane’s Hac Sa Beach. Meanwhile, 15 teams in the International Catamaran Invitational will compete for the championship in the waters south of the Macau Channel off the Macao Science Center.
A fleet parade will also take place at 9 am today and on Sunday. The participating vessels will set sail from Macau Fisherman’s Wharf, pass the Macao Science Center, Kun Iam Ecumenical Centre, sail under the Governador Nobre de Carvalho Bridge and on to the Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre.
The organisers have made arrangements for spectators for the fleet parade and the International Catamaran Invitational on Sunday, with participants who have previously collected the tickets requested to arrive at the Inner Harbour Ferry Terminal at 7:30 am on 16 January for boarding.
A Hobie 16 dinghy will be displayed at MGM Macau’s Grande Praça until Sunday, while the 2023 MGM Macao International Regatta – Sailing Fun Day will be held at MGM Macau’s Vista from tomorrow to Sunday.
The 2023 MGM Macao International Regatta – Photography Competition will also be open for entries from 9 January to 15 February, The Macau Post Daily reported.
