The third Macau International Film Festival kicked off Saturday, with over 50 films from around the world to be shown in local cinemas.
The seven-day event includes such sections as Competition Section, Gala, Flying Daggers, Best of Fest, New Chinese Cinema, Special Presentation, and Director’s Choice.
US actor-cum-director Nicolas Cage, Hong Kong singer-cum-actor Aaron Kwok Fu-shing and South Korean singer-cum-actress Lim Yoon-a were appointed as the festival’s Talent Ambassadors this year. Mainland Chinese director Chen Kaige was appointed as the jury president of the competition section.
On the night of the opening ceremony at the Macau Cultural Centre in Nape, the film “Green book” directed by US filmmaker Peter Farrelly was shown as the opening film.
This year’s festival features first and second-time film makers.
A raft of activities will be hold during the festival, such as forums, seminars and workshops to serve as an industry platform for film professionals from across the world.
The awards will be announced at the closing ceremony on Friday.
