The Maritime Museum in Barra will reopen Friday after some of its facilities and exhibits were severely damaged by floodwaters during the onslaught of Super Typhoon Hato, the Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) said in a statement.

The super-typhoon pummelled Macau on August 23, causing massive flooding, killing 10, injuring 244, and resulting in damage officially estimated at over 11 billion patacas.

The statement said that the repairs to most of the damaged facilities and exhibits have been finished and that the museum will resume operations Friday.

The statement said that the lifts in the museum are, however, still under repair.

A raft of government facilities, including a number of public libraries, had to close after they were damaged by Hato. Most of them have gradually reopened.

The Maritime Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Tuesday.
