The 10-day ‘Taiwan Festival’ will present the island’s “most beautiful scenery” and “diverse life styles” through a series of exhibitions, concerts and film screenings next month, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Macau said the Director-General Lu Chang-shui.

Lu made the remarks during a press conference about the event, at the Dr Sun Yat-sen Memorial House in Rua de Silva Mendes.

According to Lu, the event will be held by Taiwan’s Hong Kong-based Kwang Hwa Information and Culture Centre and co-hosted by his office. It will take place at the Dr Sun Yat-sen Memorial House and Cinematheque Passion, an art house and film archive run by Macau’s Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), from April 8 to 17.

“We have invited five young artists pursuing their dreams, with an average age of 35, to the Dr Sun Yat-sen Memorial House in Macau to share their stories,” Lu added.

Also addressing the press conference, Kwang Hwa Information and Culture Centre Director Lu Chien-ying said the Taiwan Festival last year in Macau was “very successful”, adding that the event this year would focus on “telling the island’s stories”.
