Official figures cited in a local media report indicate that more than 301,700 visitor arrivals were recorded during the three-day weekend that just concluded, according to official figures cited in a local media report.

Just over a third of visitors entered from the mainland, via the Border Gate, while slightly less than a third came in via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, the report said.

Daily visitor arrivals averaged 100,568 across the three days – slightly less than August’s daily average of 103,925. The eight-day Mid-Autumn and National Day holiday, meanwhile, saw a daily average of 116,546 visitors.

The long weekend was held to mark the Chong Yeung Festival, also known as the Double Ninth Festival because it is observed on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month.

More generally, visitor numbers are on the rise. Macao saw a total of almost 6,697,520 visitor arrivals across the second quarter of this year or a daily average of about 73,400. That included the five-day Labour Day Golden Week holiday, which had a daily average of about 98,400 visitors.

Total visitor arrivals during the first quarter were about 4,948,360 – a daily average of 54,380 – according to data from the Statistics and Census Office.
