Macao will get its first Andaz hotel next month, in collaboration with Galaxy Macau. According to a statement released today, Andaz hotels – owned by Hyatt – are “deeply rooted in the art and culture of their destinations.” Andaz Macau is set to open on 15 September and will cater to both business and leisure guests.

With more than 700 rooms and suites, this hotel will be the brand’s biggest property to date. Located between Old Taipa and Coloane, Andaz Macau’s picturesque surrounds will “immerse guests in the ‘real Macau’,” Galaxy’s statement read.

“[The location will allow] them to experience the city’s traditional heritage and diverse culture firsthand, as well as providing easy access to the resort’s many cutting-edge attractions.”

Andaz Macau is directly connected to both Galaxy International Convention Center (GICC) and the 16,000-seat Galaxy Arena. The hotel has been designed with a check-in lounge to suit large MICE groups, as well as a signature lounge, a bar and restaurant, a 24-hour fitness centre, and a heated 19-metre indoor pool.

Art and eclectic decor are a focus point of Andaz hotels around the world. Andaz Macau has been “imagined as the richly decorated residence of a knowledgeable antique dealer with a deep understanding of Macau’s multifaceted cultural heritage,” according to the statement.

Expect East-meets-West architecture, a maritime vibe, and “a one-of-a-kind staircase that reveals stories of the city’s past and present through more than 100 captivating videos that create an engaging multisensory experience.”

The hotel’s art and artefact collection includes steel sculptures by Malaysian artist Tang Mun Kian and antique vases, while one of its dining spaces was inspired by Macao’s iconic shophouses.

There are already 28 Andaz hotels in Shanghai, Tokyo, London, New York, Dubai, and other cities around the world. Andaz Macau will be the eighth hospitality brand to set up shop within the Galaxy Macau integrated resort.

In June, the city’s hotel occupancy rates sat at 84 percent – a 44 percent year-on-year increase, according to the Statistics and Census Service. Averaged over the first six months of the year, Macao’s hotels have been about 78 percent full.

To celebrate its opening, Andaz Macau is offering a special package deal for guests starting at 1,698 patacas for one night’s stay plus extras.
