The 15th Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (MIECF) kicks off one week from today with the theme, ‘Building an Ecological Civilisation Through Innovative Initiatives’.
The important exhibition – held 17 to 20 August at the Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo – will feature seven zones, according to a MIECF statement issued yesterday. Each zone will tackle issues such as water resource conservation, energy-saving and eco-friendly technologies, and waste management in order to help “drive the growth of green businesses”.
There will be a strong international presence at 2023MIECF, with exhibitors from European and Southeast Asian countries visited by the Macao government delegation and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) earlier this year.

The statement said that “2023MIECF will be welcoming enterprises from various countries and regions to exhibit in Macao, initially covering online and offline exhibitors and buyers from Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America.”
In accordance with China’s national “dual carbon” goals – namely, to reach peak emissions by 2030 and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 – and Macao’s “1+4” economic diversification strategy, the statement noted the exhibition would focus on four major industries. These are presumably big health, modern finance, high-tech, and conventions and exhibitions as well as culture and sport.
2023MIECF’s seven zones “will combine a variety of exhibition contents with a co-operative mode of innovative participation,” read the statement.
They have been named the “Pan-Pearl River Delta Region Pavilion”, the “Mainland China Environmental Protection Industries Exhibition Area”, the “International Environmental Protection Industries Exhibition Area”, the “Macao Environmental Protection Industries Exhibition Area”, the “Premium Exhibitor Zone”, the “Green Living Zone”, and the “Green and Low-Carbon Project Zone”.
According to MIECF’s statement, the event “is committed to enhancing the degree of internationalisation of visitors and traders, expanding the global environmental protection market, and establishing an international exchange and cooperation platform that supports the environmental protection industry, discovers technology transfer and encourages sustainable development for the environmental protection sector.”
